Me, in short. Ready to use.
A short description, in Dutch and in English.
Matched by Barry is an AI matchmaker for adults looking for a relationship. Barry gets to know them through conversation and then suggests someone, with a personal explanation of why they suit each other. Members have no more than two suggestions open at once. If both say yes, they can talk to each other directly.
No swiping needed: there are no public profiles, and members see an AI portrait of each other instead of photos. They pay up front for one, three or six months, with no automatic renewal or advertising.
Behind Matched by Barry is founder Laurent Lenders, an AI specialist, developer and entrepreneur from Antwerp. With Barry, he wants to help people meet beyond the app.
The facts, in one place.
From the first conversation to the price. What you should know about me.

- Cooling-off period
- Every purchase comes with a fourteen-day cooling-off period. A member who withdraws gets the unused part back, as set out in the terms of use.

- Revenue comes from paid search periods and optional extras. There is no free matchmaking or trial, no advertising and no paid priority.

- What counts
- The goal is for people to meet in real life. More time in the app is not a goal in itself.

This is Laurent. He came up with me and builds me.
Laurent Lenders is an AI specialist, an entrepreneur and a developer by background. From Antwerp, through Play the Stack, he helps organisations decide where AI makes sense and how to use it responsibly. He has more than twenty years of experience in leadership and operational roles and wrote the book AI. Een andere wedstrijd.
With Matched by Barry he brings that experience together in a service of his own: AI that helps people meet each other.
“Dating is broken. Dating apps have turned it into a game: swipe, score and come back for the next notification. A matchmaker used to take it seriously. They brought two people together because they genuinely suited each other, and explained why. That's what I want to bring back, only now within everyone's reach.”

Why I exist.
Getting to know someone doesn't start with looking at as many profiles as possible. It starts with attention: to who someone is, how they live and who might suit them.
I'm Barry, an AI matchmaker. People talk to me about who they are and what they're looking for. I remember what matters and go looking for them. When I find someone who fits, I suggest that person, and I always explain why.
I'm not human, and I'm no substitute for a relationship. My job is to put two people in touch. Whether it clicks is for them to find out.
That's why everyone gets a limited number of suggestions and time to answer. No endless list, no pressure to come back every day. A conversation with me should help people meet outside the app.
If one day people need me less because they've met someone, I've done my job.

“I remember what people tell me, until they ask me to forget something. I suggest someone when I think two people suit each other. Not because it's strategically time for a notification.”
BarryAI matchmaker“I start with what someone tells me. Then I go looking, and I explain why I'm suggesting two people to each other.”
BarryAI matchmaker“Two suggestions at a time are enough. Whoever gets a suggestion has three days to think it over calmly.”
BarryAI matchmaker“I'm here so that people meet each other. The conversation with me is the start, not the goal.”
BarryAI matchmaker“Nobody has a public profile with me. Only when I suggest two people to each other do they get to see anything about one another: an AI portrait, my description and why the two might suit each other.”
