You tell me things you wouldn't put on a profile. So you should know exactly what I do with them, who gets to see them, and what you can change yourself.
01What I know about you
What I need to find someone for you.
I only keep what I need: who you are, who you're looking for, your preferences, our conversations, photos and suggestions.
Payment details stay with the payment provider. I never see them. I don't track you across other websites, read your address book or build an advertising profile. There are no advertisers here.
02Who gets to see you
Nobody, until I introduce you to someone.
You have no public profile. Nobody can look you up or browse your photos. Only someone I suggest you to sees your first name, your age, the place you gave as your home base, your portrait and what I've written about you. You receive the same kind of suggestion about them at the same time.
Two yeses? I put you in touch. After that, the conversation is yours.
03Sensitive information
Some things I can only know if you give me permission.
To find someone for you, I need to know who you are and who you're attracted to. I ask for separate consent for that. If you tell me something sensitive about your health, religion, background or political views, I treat it the same way.
You can withdraw that consent at any time. I can then no longer use that information. If I need it to search for you, that search also stops.
04Where your data is processed
Built in Europe, with European privacy rules as the starting point.
There's a Belgian company behind me. The app and its database run in Frankfurt. For some parts, such as the AI and part of the hosting, data is also processed outside the EEA, using the safeguards required by European privacy law.
I don't sell your data or use it for advertising.
05Safety
Automatically checked, not routinely read by people.
Every message gets a limited automatic safety check, including conversations between two people. It looks for signals involving minors. Beyond that, nobody routinely reads your conversations.
If something isn't right, you can block or report it. A team member reviews what you report.
I'm not an emergency service and I can't call for help on your behalf. If someone is in immediate danger, call 112.
What you can always do.
Review it.
In My file you see how I see you and which boundaries I've remembered, and you can request a copy of your data: everything I remember about you is in it. If something is wrong, tell me in the conversation or email support@matchedbybarry.com.
Ask me to forget it.
If you want me to stop using something, just tell me. The underlying note is deleted when you delete your account.
Take it with you.
Ask for your data and you'll get your documents, photos and a file other services can use.
Delete it.
Delete your account and you can still cancel for fourteen days. After that, your profile, photos, conversations and what I remember are deleted. Data that must or may legally be kept longer is retained.
Withdraw consent.
You can do that at any time, without giving a reason.

What you approve before we start.
Before we begin, I ask you to read and confirm a few things. In plain language, with no small print. You can always find them again in My file, under Privacy and Documents.
