How long should I search for you?

Why three months? Matchmaking can take time. Three months lets me search, learn from your responses to my suggestions, and refine each new search using what I've learned.

Why I recommend three months.

You rarely find the right person on the first try. I learn more with every search round, and three months gives me time to put that into practice.

    Through our conversations, I learn who you are and what you're looking for, including things you only tell me after a while.

    Every yes and every no to a suggestion tells me something. I take into account why someone was or wasn't right for you.

    Each new search round builds on what I've learned about you along the way.

What you always get, however long you choose.

A longer search gives you more time. It doesn't give you a different or better version of me.

    I search the same way for everyone. Choosing a longer search doesn't give you priority.

  • I keep searching.

    As long as your search runs, I keep looking. As soon as there's room for a new suggestion, I'll include you in my next round.

  • Two suggestions at a time, at most.

    There are never more than two suggestions open at once. That way each one gets your full attention.

  • Talk whenever you like.

    Tell me what's on your mind, ask your questions or have me change something. Everything you tell me helps me search better.

  • Always a reason

    With every suggestion, I explain why I think that person suits you. You don't get a score, you get an explanation.

  • Your privacy

    You don't have a public profile. I don't show you ads, and I don't sell your data.

Sometimes you want a little more.

Your search includes everything you need to get started with me. If you want more in a particular month, you can buy it separately. It's optional, not a requirement.

You buy extras in the app, while your search is running.

    Used up this month's suggestions? You can buy one more. It never expires, but I only use it while your search is running.

  • Extra chat credit

    €6.99

    25 extra messages with me, for a month when you have more to say. This credit never expires either.

When exactly does my search start?

The moment your payment comes in. If you extend while your search is still running, the new period starts on the day the current one ends. So you don't lose a day.

Can I stop early?

Yes. There's nothing to cancel: just let your search end, or put me on pause. You don't get a refund for that, not even if you delete your account. You can withdraw from any purchase, including a renewal or anything you bought on top, up to fourteen days after making it, by emailing support@matchedbybarry.com. I then refund what you haven't used by the day you email me. If your search hasn't started yet, I refund all of it.

Can I pause, and what happens then?

You can put me on pause at any time, in our conversation or in My file. While you're paused, I don't suggest anyone new. Your search period keeps running: a pause doesn't move the end date.

Can I extend before my search ends?

Yes, whenever you like: in our conversation or on your search plan page. Your new search period starts on the day the current one ends. You can have at most one further period lined up, and everything I know about you stays saved.

What happens to open suggestions when my search ends?

You can still respond to a suggestion you received during your search after the last day. If you both say yes, you become a match and can message each other. I only suggest someone new once you start a new search.

What if you find nobody for me?

Then you haven't used any suggestions either. I'd rather suggest nobody than someone who isn't right for you. You pay for the search and for talking with me, not for a guaranteed number of people.

How often do you introduce me to someone?

While fewer than two suggestions are open, I check every few hours for someone who really suits you. You get no more than one new suggestion a day, and never more than two at once. Once a suggestion is closed, with or without a match, I wait three days before suggesting someone new. I never send a suggestion just for the sake of sending something.

What does each month of my search include?

Every month of your search, you get 100 messages with me and up to three confirmed matches. A suggestion counts once you both say yes. If it is still open when a month ends and the no or the expiry only comes after that, it counts for that month too, unless it was an extra suggestion you bought. Whatever you don't use in a month expires at the end of that month. For normal use, that's plenty.

Do the extras I buy expire?

No. An extra suggestion or extra chat credit doesn't expire while your account exists. You can only use it while a search is running, though.

What happens to the extras I bought when my search ends?

They stay on your account. If you start a new search later, you can use them again straight away.
